On Tuesday at 4:15 PM, I realized my sheet music had vanished outside the Cedar Rapids Public Library on 5th Avenue, by the riverfront trail. It’s the last set I practice for my recital, the pages stained with coffee and pencil marks from last week’s run-through. I was seated on the library steps when the wind whipped the pages away, and I’ve been searching the sidewalk near the library ever since, hoping someone found the bundle and kept it safe. If you saw it, I’d be grateful for any small clue that helps me recover it.
This evening around 6:20 PM, I found a set of Work Cases on a bench outside the Cedar Rapids Public Library, near the Grant Wood sculpture garden. The metal cases looked sturdy but a bit rain-worn, with scratches that tell they’ve seen a few city sidewalks. I tucked them beneath my jacket and kept walking the downtown streets, hoping the owner would see this listing and realize their items were found. I can’t imagine how stressed they must be, so I’m hoping this helps bring their work back to them soon.
I was packing up for a family gathering Friday evening when I set a tote of holiday decorations on my apartment porch. At 7:30 p.m., I heard a crash from the hallway and rushed to check, but the tote was gone. Inside were strings of warm white lights, a red and gold wreath, and a tiny ceramic star from my grandmother's collection. The thought of them ending up somewhere else makes my heart sink, since they carry memories of Christmases in our Cedar Rapids, Iowa home. The disappearance happened on 2nd Avenue, near the Cedar Rapids Public Library. If anyone saw something or picked them up by chance, I would be grateful to bring them back home.
I found these three tiny kittens behind NewBo City Market on 11th Ave SE around 2:45 PM today while I was taking a walk after lunch. They are a trio of sweet pockets of fur — one orange tabby, one gray tabby, and a white kitten with a black patch — bright eyes and tiny noses. They were mewing softly and seemed a bit hungry, so I kept them in a safe spot near the market alley and offered them water. They are healthy and curious, and I hope the person who owns them sees this and knows they are safe for now.
Yesterday around 7:15 PM, I found a handful of GPS devices near the entrance to NewBo City Market in Cedar Rapids. They were tucked into a small black pouch by the map wall. I figured someone would be worried and hoped they could be returned to their owner quickly. I’m sharing this here in case the rightful owner passes by the site and recognizes the devices.
I’m Ava Thompson. Two pendants disappeared around 6:20 p.m. last Saturday near NewBo City Market. I’d been walking along 6th Avenue SE with my mom after a coffee run when I realized the chain had snapped and the two small pendants were gone from my neck. One pendant is a small heart with a delicate dragonfly engraving—my grandmother gave it to me for luck. The other is a tiny silver disc engraved with the word 'Mom,' simple yet priceless. The evening air tasted of rain and street music drifted from the market as I retraced steps, hope flaring then fading. They mean everything to me; I’m hoping someone picked them up and kept them safe.
