I was out for a late afternoon hike through Gold Country, near Coloma, around 4:25 p.m. when I spotted a pair of sandals left on a rock beside the trail. They looked well worn but sturdy, with dusty tan straps and a faint smell of pine from the recent hike. I picked them up and set them on a bench at the Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park Visitor Center to wait for their owner. It always stings a little to see someone else’s belongings unattended, and I hope whoever lost them will recognize them soon.

The belts are part of my interview outfit, and I’m anxious about the meeting tomorrow. I keep hoping a good Samaritan picked them up and handed them in at the police desk or a nearby store’s lost-and-found, but I’m keeping faith they’ll turn up close to the Old Town fountain.

I found a North Face parka, olive green, size L, this afternoon around 3:15pm near the Main Street bandstand in Nevada City, Gold Country. It's in pretty good condition with a little dust from the sidewalk, and the orange zipper pulls really pop. There's a small mountain silhouette patch on the left sleeve and a tiny cuff repair with black thread. If it's yours, describe the patches or any unique details and I'll hand it over to you.

I found a pair of neon blue Nike swim shorts this afternoon around 3:15pm behind the Nevada County Fairgrounds in Grass Valley, near the main entrance by the old grandstand. They're men's size M, in pretty good shape with a crisp white Nike swoosh on the left leg and a black drawstring that’s a bit frayed from sun and chlorine. There’s a small interior pocket and a tiny red zipper pull that’s easy to grab, plus a faint chlorine scent that tells me they’ve been in the pool recently. I lost my favorite green swim goggles while I was swimming at the lake in Gold Country last weekend. I think I set them down by the rocks as I was sunbathing, and when I went to grab them again, they were gone. They have a little scratch on the left lens but are otherwise in good condition.
