FOUND sheet music near the Riverwalk
At 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, I found a stack of sheet music tucked beneath a bench near the Wilmington Riverwalk. The pages fluttered in the breeze as the sun slid behind the Cape Fear River, and the faded cover bore a penciled title and a name I couldn't quite read. I held onto the music for a few days, thinking the owner might return, but I realized there was no obvious way to match it to someone here and a part of me feels it's meant to be found with the right person. I lost my blue Yamaha snare drum yesterday around 3pm near the Starbucks on Front Street in downtown Wilmington. It's a 14-inch metal snare with chrome hardware and a slightly dented rim from a gig mishap. The shell has a small white shark sticker near the lug, and there's a faint coffee stain on the outside from rehearsal coffee runs. It means a lot to me—it's the drum I learned with, and it has sentimental value since my grandfather gave it to me before law school. There’s a small sun sticker on the side and a dent on the bottom edge, plus one knob that occasionally sticks. I lost my silver flute while walking in Hugh MacRae Park in Wilmington yesterday afternoon. I took it out to practice a few notes, and in the hustle of picking up my things afterwards, I accidentally left it on a bench. It has a few initial engravings by the bottom of the body, and I'm really hoping to get it back soon.
