I was wrapping up the Christmas lights on my front porch when a gust of wind knocked the box from the bench by the Fountain on Court Street around 4:30 PM Friday. I turned to grab it and it was gone, vanished into the crowd near the Lauderdale County Courthouse steps. Inside are garlands, red-and-green ribbons, a handmade paper star, and a few delicate heirloom ornaments my grandmother loved. I never misplace things this way, and losing these feels like losing part of the holiday magic we try to keep every year. If you spotted a red tote tucked under a bench by the fountain, I’d be grateful to hear anything.
