I stepped out of a café near the Dallas Farmers Market around 4:40 PM on Friday and realized my sandals were gone from the bench where I’d been waiting. They’re tan leather with a bright turquoise strap and a cracked sole that I’ve relied on all summer. I remember sitting there with my tote, then walking away with a friend and not noticing them missing until I reached the parking lot.
