On Sunday around 6:40 p.m., I was near the Brownsville Public Library on Ringgold Street when my two hamsters got loose from their travel carrier. I chased them through the plaza and around the entrance, but they vanished into a hedge by the sidewalk. They’re small and fast—one is a fluffy grey dwarf named Pebbles, the other a brown-and-white Syrian named Oreo. I’m stressed because their safety means everything to me, and I’m counting on a kind local to help bring them home.
