Lost something on public transport?

How to track down an item left on a bus, train, tram, or taxi by contacting the right transport operator.

Items left on buses, trains, trams, and taxis around Ventura County are usually handed in to the operator's lost property team — the trick is contacting the right one quickly.

  1. Identify the operator. Note the route, line, or company and the rough time. Each operator runs its own lost property process.
  2. Submit a lost property report. Use the operator's online form or phone line as soon as possible; recovered items are logged against your description.
  3. For taxis and rideshare, contact the driver or company directly through your booking or app receipt.
  4. Keep your reference. Save any report number so you can chase it up.
  5. Post a listing. Add a listing for Ventura County in case a fellow passenger picked it up.

LOST: Holiday Decorations near Ventura Harbor

I was helping decorate for the neighborhood tree-lighting at the Ventura Harbor Village when I left my holiday decorations in the back of my SUV around 5:45 PM Sunday. The bin is white, topped with a red plaid runner, and inside are a handful of large red and gold ornaments, several strands of warm LEDs, and a snowflake centerpiece. My heart aches thinking someone might have mistaken them for trash. I would recognize the bin by the red runner and the tangled LED cords. If you saw a white plastic bin near the Ventura Harbor Village parking lot by the lifeguard tower, please give it a look.

Black Samsung T7 1TB SSD with 'AK' sticker

I lost my black Samsung T7 1TB portable SSD yesterday around 3pm near the Starbucks on Main Street in Ventura, in Ventura County. It's part of my Digital Media stash—video edits, travel vlogs, and a few client reels. The drive is palm-sized with a black aluminum shell and a white sticker on the back that reads 'AK'; there’s also a tiny dent on the top edge from a backpack zipper. The front Samsung logo is a bit scuffed too. I really need it back—it's not just data, it holds work and memories from recent trips I can’t replace.

Silver Yamaha flute in black case

I lost my silver Yamaha flute yesterday around 3pm near the Ventura Harbor Village, by Fisherman’s Wharf and the marina offices along Harbor Drive. It’s in a black hard case with a red sticker on the latch and a blue neck strap tucked inside. There’s a tiny dent on the lip plate and the latch is engraved with the initials 'A.Y.' It was a gift from my grandmother and means a lot to me—really hoping someone picked it up and kept it safe. If you found it, please email me at [email protected] so we can arrange a pickup or drop-off.

Orange paperback travel guide, Ventura County, lost today near harbor

Yesterday around 3pm I realized I'd misplaced my orange paperback travel guide about Ventura County. It's a small 6x8 inch book with a bright orange cover, a few creases in the spine, and a blue sticky note tucked inside the back cover with my initials 'PD' and my phone number. There's a pineapple sticker on the back and a dog-eared page about the marina. I last remember having it in my tote near the Ventura Harbor Village, probably by the bike rental stand or the public restrooms. It's sentimental to me because it was a gift from a friend who visited last summer, and I'd be really grateful to have it back.

Blue Wilson Clash tennis racket with white grip

Hey there, I'm hoping someone found my blue Wilson Clash tennis racket. I lost it yesterday around 3pm near The Oaks shopping center off Thousand Oaks Boulevard and Moorpark Road, in the parking lot behind the food court. It's a 27-inch graphite racket with a white grip wrapped in a blue overgrip, and there's a small dent on the left side of the frame plus a white sticker with my initials 'AR' on the grip. This racket has been my go-to for practice since high school, so it means a lot to me and I really need it back. If you found it, send me a message here and we can arrange pickup.
