Lost something on public transport?

How to track down an item left on a bus, train, tram, or taxi by contacting the right transport operator.

Items left on buses, trains, trams, and taxis around South Florida are usually handed in to the operator's lost property team — the trick is contacting the right one quickly.

  1. Identify the operator. Note the route, line, or company and the rough time. Each operator runs its own lost property process.
  2. Submit a lost property report. Use the operator's online form or phone line as soon as possible; recovered items are logged against your description.
  3. For taxis and rideshare, contact the driver or company directly through your booking or app receipt.
  4. Keep your reference. Save any report number so you can chase it up.
  5. Post a listing. Add a listing for South Florida in case a fellow passenger picked it up.

Lost Drums in South Beach, FL

I am a touring drummer and I lost my drums after a gig in South Florida, around 11:15 p.m. Saturday outside a club on Ocean Drive in South Beach. They are a five-piece walnut-finish kit with chrome hardware and a dent on the kick pedal; the stands are black. The club was crowded and I hustled my gear into the van, but the drums were gone when I came back. They mean everything to me, and I hope someone looked after them for me.

Lost handheld and console in South Florida

At about 9:15 pm last Friday, I realized my handheld game console and a second smaller handheld were missing from my bag after I stopped for a coffee on Ocean Drive, just south of Lincoln Road in South Beach. I had left them on a chair by the outdoor seating before stepping away for a moment; when I returned, they were gone. The blue handheld is my main device with a cracked sticker, and the second is a black compact console I use for travel. If anyone found them around Lincoln Road or the nearby paseo, I hope they were turned in to the Lost and Found.

Lost postcards from a South Florida trip

On Saturday at 8:10 a.m., I was biking along Biscayne Boulevard by Bayside Market Place in downtown Miami when I realized my stack of postcards from our South Florida trip had vanished from my tote. They are not valuable, but they are the only physical reminders of a week spent wandering Little Havana, South Beach, and the Everglades, and they mean a lot to me. I retraced the path along the harbor area, checked the benches near the marina, and asked a couple of joggers, but no luck. If someone turned them in, I would be grateful to get them back, even if a few cards are creased; they are precious to me.

Lost carry-ons near Fort Lauderdale airport

I lost my carry-ons on Friday at 9:30 p.m. at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. I’d just deplaned and the baggage claim around Terminal 3 was chaotic with travelers and clattering trolleys. A black rolling suitcase with a red strap and a small gray backpack disappeared from the carousel as I reached for my bag. Inside are my work documents, a photo album, and a few daily meds—things I truly need every day. I panicked, retraced my steps through the crowd, and asked at the baggage desk, but nothing turned up. If you spotted them, please flag it on the site so I can start getting things sorted and keep calm for tomorrow.
