Lost something on public transport?

How to track down an item left on a bus, train, tram, or taxi by contacting the right transport operator.

Items left on buses, trains, trams, and taxis around Richmond are usually handed in to the operator's lost property team — the trick is contacting the right one quickly.

  1. Identify the operator. Note the route, line, or company and the rough time. Each operator runs its own lost property process.
  2. Submit a lost property report. Use the operator's online form or phone line as soon as possible; recovered items are logged against your description.
  3. For taxis and rideshare, contact the driver or company directly through your booking or app receipt.
  4. Keep your reference. Save any report number so you can chase it up.
  5. Post a listing. Add a listing for Richmond in case a fellow passenger picked it up.

Lost handheld and console near Depot District, Richmond

On Friday at 8:42 PM, I realized my handheld and console were missing as I stepped out of the Depot District near the Wayne County Historical Museum in downtown Richmond. I was about to head home after a long shift when I felt the pocket go light. These devices are my little escape after work, and losing them left me feeling unsettled. I’ve walked the area around the depot and the museum, hoping someone who found them paused to think about the owner.

Lost collars in Depot District, Richmond, IN.

I lost a pair of dog collars this morning while taking a quick walk in the Depot District of Richmond. Around 9:15 AM today, I was heading toward Main Street near the Wayne County Courthouse when the leashes tangled and the collars slipped off my dogs. One collar is blue with a small red heart tag reading 'Milo' and the other is gray with a tiny bone charm. I’m anxious about my pups turning up without them—they help identify them if they wander, and I’d hate for something to go wrong. If you found them, please know I’m grateful for any help in bringing them home.

Lost satchels near downtown Richmond

I lost my satchels yesterday evening, around 6:45 p.m., just outside the Richmond Civic Theatre on Main Street. They’re sturdy black leather with brass buckles, one bag has a small red sticker on the front pocket and a frayed strap. I had them while I grabbed coffee at a shop on North 9th Street, and by the time I turned the corner they were gone. Inside are my travel notes, a laptop charger, and a handful of family photos that can’t be replaced. I’m sick with worry and I’m hoping someone saw them and handed them in.

Lost chargers near Richmond Courthouse

I lost two chargers last Friday in downtown Richmond, Indiana. Around 6:15 p.m., after grabbing coffee on Main Street, I headed back to my car and realized my tote felt lighter. The chargers were a black USB-C brick with a blue cable and a white USB-A brick. I was stressed because I rely on them for a travel week ahead and my phone was dying. I remember stepping out of the cafe onto Main Street by the Wayne County Courthouse, then walking toward the parking lot near the flagpole. If someone picked them up, I’d be grateful to know they’re safe.

Lost travel bags near Glen Miller Park, Richmond.

Last night at 7:15 p.m., I realized my travel bags were missing after I paused at the Glen Miller Park entrance on Main Street in Richmond. I retraced my steps through the Depot District and back toward the creek, hoping I’d just set them down on a bench, but they were gone. The bags are a matte black duffel with a red strap and a small gray carry-on inside, stuffed with clothes and a few photos from a trip abroad. Losing them feels like losing a piece of my plans for the summer, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed they’re somewhere safe and will turn up.

LOST synthesizers in Richmond, Indiana

On Friday at 6:40 PM, after a quick practice at the Richmond Music Center near the Depot District, I realized my synthesizers were missing from the back seat of my SUV. The two units live in a black flight case with a bright blue PolyNova sticker on the side. I’d parked on South Street in front of the Morrisson-Reeves Library around 6:20 PM after loading gear from the studio. I’ve played these synths for years, and losing them feels like misplacing a part of my creative self. If you’ve seen a similar setup in Richmond, Indiana, or anything that looks like this gear, please keep an eye out.
