Lost pet — how to find them fast

A fast, practical plan for finding a lost pet, plus the shelters and microchip registries to contact.

When a pet goes missing in Pueblo, speed and visibility are everything. Most lost pets are found close to home within the first day.

  1. Search the immediate area. Check nearby gardens, sheds, and quiet spots. Bring treats and a familiar item, and call calmly.
  2. Alert the microchip registry. Flag your pet as missing with the microchip database so your details are current if they're scanned.
  3. Call local shelters and vets. Phone shelters, pounds, and veterinary practices around Pueblo and ask them to note your pet's description.
  4. Post online and on lost-pet databases. Share clear photos in local community groups and lost-pet services.
  5. Put up visible notices. A simple poster with a photo, the area, and a contact number still works.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-pet listing for Pueblo so found-pet reports nearby surface alongside yours.

Gray dwarf rabbit with blue harness missing near Riverwalk

I lost my gray dwarf rabbit yesterday around 3pm near the Riverwalk by the water feature off Main Street in Pueblo. He’s tiny, about the size of a soda can, with soft gray fur, a white underbelly, and a blue harness with a tiny silver bell that jingles when he hops. He has a small white dot on his nose and a faint notch in his left ear—that's how I tell him apart. He’s never far from me; this little guy has sentimental value, and I'm really worried about him; he might be microchipped. If you spot him, email [email protected] and I’ll arrange a pickup.

Golden retriever mix, cream with white paws

I lost my golden retriever mix yesterday around 3pm near the Riverwalk in Pueblo, along Main Street and Union Avenue by the old brick mural outside the Pueblo Convention Center. He’s about 45 pounds, medium build, mostly cream with tan patches on his ears and a white blaze on his chest. He’s wearing a blue collar with a silver tag that says 'Mojo.' He also has a tiny scar behind his right ear from a playful tumble last week. He’s incredibly friendly and loves kids and other dogs, but loud noises scare him a bit. This dog is already a big part of my life—he was a gift from my late aunt and means the world to me. If you’ve seen him, email [email protected].

Lost small brown hamster named Cocoa who escaped from backyard enclosure in Pueblo.

I lost my little brown hamster, Cocoa, while playing outside in my backyard in Pueblo yesterday. He somehow escaped from his enclosure, and I'm really worried about him. He's friendly and might come for food if you call his name. Please help me find him!
