Lost something on public transport?

How to track down an item left on a bus, train, tram, or taxi by contacting the right transport operator.

Items left on buses, trains, trams, and taxis around Mason City are usually handed in to the operator's lost property team — the trick is contacting the right one quickly.

  1. Identify the operator. Note the route, line, or company and the rough time. Each operator runs its own lost property process.
  2. Submit a lost property report. Use the operator's online form or phone line as soon as possible; recovered items are logged against your description.
  3. For taxis and rideshare, contact the driver or company directly through your booking or app receipt.
  4. Keep your reference. Save any report number so you can chase it up.
  5. Post a listing. Add a listing for Mason City in case a fellow passenger picked it up.

Lost student ID in Mason City, outside library

I realized around 12:45 PM today that my student ID was missing as I hurried out of the Mason City Public Library. I had stopped for a quick bite near the entrance and must have dropped it somewhere along the sidewalk by the north doors. The card is a standard plastic ID with my photo and a couple of collegiate stickers I’ve collected. Losing it is a real hassle, since I need it for class check-ins and building access. If it’s found, please note it on the site so I can reclaim it.

Terrariums lost in Mason City

I was at Central Park in Mason City on Wednesday around 3:15 p.m. when I set down two terrariums while I opened my bag to grab a notebook. The terrariums are glass bowls; one hosts a tiny fern and moss, the other a small succulent with pebbles. They survived a move to the café nearby, but I must have left them on the park bench as I walked toward Music Man Square. They’re irreplaceable to me, and I’m hoping someone found them and kept them somewhere safe near Central Park.

Lost adapters near Central Park

Earlier this evening, around 6:15 PM, I realized I'd misplaced a few adapters somewhere around Central Park in Mason City. The adapters are in a gray zip case with a neon blue zipper, and include USB-C and micro-USB varieties, tangled with a couple charging cables. I’m kicking myself for not keeping better track of them, because my laptop won’t run without them while I’m on my trip. If this sounds like yours, please reply through the site so we can get them back to you.

Lost sandals near Central Park, Mason City

Last Tuesday around 6:15 p.m., I realized my sandals were gone from a bench outside the Mason City Public Library by Central Park. They’re brown leather with a stitched strap and a small scuff on the left sandal. I’d paused after a quick stroll through the park and cafe, and by the time I looked back, they were gone. I’m hoping someone picked them up and left them somewhere safe so I can find them again.

Lost brooches in Mason City

I lost my two small silver-tone brooches during a walk around downtown Mason City last Saturday at about 3:45 PM. I had been browsing the shops along 1st Street SE near the Park Inn and paused near the fountain by the library steps when I realized they weren’t in my jacket anymore. One brooch is a delicate leaf, the other a tiny blue stone set in a simple circle, both tucked in a black velvet pouch. They’re sentimental to me—my grandmother’s gift—and I’d be grateful if someone found them near the Park Inn courtyard or around 2nd Street NW. Thank you.

Lost: Two swimsuits near Roosevelt Park, Mason City

Yesterday afternoon around 4:45 p.m. I was leaving the Mason City Municipal Pool after a quick swim and must have left my swimsuits on a chair by the changing room. They are a navy one-piece and a bright pink bikini, both with elastic straps. I had sunscreen smeared on the bag, and the umbrellas were still up when I walked away. I am worried about losing them in the wind or someone else taking them home unintentionally. If you found them near Roosevelt Park or by the pool house, please let the site know so I can get them back.
