Lost pet — how to find them fast

A fast, practical plan for finding a lost pet, plus the shelters and microchip registries to contact.

When a pet goes missing in Jacksonville, speed and visibility are everything. Most lost pets are found close to home within the first day.

  1. Search the immediate area. Check nearby gardens, sheds, and quiet spots. Bring treats and a familiar item, and call calmly.
  2. Alert the microchip registry. Flag your pet as missing with the microchip database so your details are current if they're scanned.
  3. Call local shelters and vets. Phone shelters, pounds, and veterinary practices around Jacksonville and ask them to note your pet's description.
  4. Post online and on lost-pet databases. Share clear photos in local community groups and lost-pet services.
  5. Put up visible notices. A simple poster with a photo, the area, and a contact number still works.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-pet listing for Jacksonville so found-pet reports nearby surface alongside yours.

Blue Rabbitgoo harness with paw-print patch

I lost my blue Rabbitgoo dog harness yesterday around 3pm near the Starbucks on Park Street in Five Points, Jacksonville. It's a blue nylon adjustable harness, size small, with neon lime stitching and a small white paw-print patch near the chest strap. It has a reflective strip along the edges and came with a matching blue leash; the leash has a tiny red heart tag attached. It was a gift from my sister and means a lot to me; I worry about my pup without it because it helps with training and control. If anyone found it, please text me; I’d really appreciate getting it back.

Leopard gecko with orange spots, about 4 inches

I lost my leopard gecko yesterday around 3pm in Jacksonville. It's a small, sleek gecko, gray with bright orange spots along the back and a pale belly. It's about 4 inches long from snout to tail and has a tiny turquoise dot on the base of its tail and a small nick on its left eyelid—unique features that help identify him. He was my daughter's pet and he has sentimental value; we adopted him last year after he hatched at a local reptile expo. I think he might have slipped out of his terrarium when I briefly opened the door near the St. Johns Town Center on Gate Parkway; if anyone finds him near Riverside Ave or the Riverwalk, please reach out here. I’m really hoping to get him back.

I lost my dog's collar in Jacksonville while we were at the dog park near the river on Saturday. It's a red collar with blue accents and has a little paw print design on it. It's quite sentimental to me since I just got it for my puppy, Max. If anyone has found it, I would really appreciate having it returned!

Lost blue dog collar with silver ID tag engraved with the name 'Max' at Riverside Park in Jacksonville.

I lost my dog's blue collar with a silver ID tag while walking in Riverside Park in Jacksonville last weekend. The collar has a distinctive pattern and my dog's name, 'Max', is engraved on the tag along with my phone number. I've searched the area but haven't been able to find it. It would mean a lot to me if anyone finds it.
