Lost something on public transport?

How to track down an item left on a bus, train, tram, or taxi by contacting the right transport operator.

Items left on buses, trains, trams, and taxis around Chicago are usually handed in to the operator's lost property team — the trick is contacting the right one quickly.

  1. Identify the operator. Note the route, line, or company and the rough time. Each operator runs its own lost property process.
  2. Submit a lost property report. Use the operator's online form or phone line as soon as possible; recovered items are logged against your description.
  3. For taxis and rideshare, contact the driver or company directly through your booking or app receipt.
  4. Keep your reference. Save any report number so you can chase it up.
  5. Post a listing. Add a listing for Chicago in case a fellow passenger picked it up.

LOST Felines in Chicago near Millennium Park

I'm posting this as LOST Felines in Chicago. Tonight, around 7:15 p.m., I was walking my two cats, a gray tabby named Zephyr and a calico named Nova, near Millennium Park in downtown Chicago when they bolted. The crowded sidewalks and bright lights frightened them, and they slipped into a narrow alley behind the Art Institute. I called their names until the crowd thinned, my heart pounding with worry. I've been searching the area since and keep hoping someone spotted two curious cats darting into doorways.

Lost organizers near Millennium Park, Chicago

I must have turned my back for a moment after a late event yesterday, and my desk organizers vanished from a bench outside the Art Institute of Chicago, near Millennium Park on Michigan Avenue, around 8:45 pm. They’re two gray plastic organizers with a few sticky notes and a calendar page peeking out. They hold my daily schedules, reminders, and a few family notes—things I rely on to keep my day together. If you’ve seen them, please message me through the site so they can come back to me.

Lost: Medication in Chicago

Monday around 9:15 AM, I realized my daily medication bottle was missing after a quick coffee run near Millennium Park. I was by Cloud Gate, then headed toward the L tracks at Monroe, unsure where it slipped from my bag. The bottle is white with a blue label and contains my daily meds; losing it threw off my routine and made me anxious about missing doses. I’m hoping someone found it and can return it so I can refill the prescription and get back on track.

Lost power tools near Lincoln Park, Chicago.

I lost my power tools last Friday around 7:45 PM after I left my apartment on North Avenue, near the Belmont L stop. They were in a black toolbox tucked in the back of my pickup, and I must have dropped them in the alley behind the building. The kit includes a cordless drill, a circular saw, and a handful of drill bits, my go to gear for small home projects. I am frustrated and anxious because the project I am working on matters to me and I am hoping they surface with someone who kept them safe.

Lost microwaves near Millennium Park, Chicago

I was helping a friend move into a condo near Millennium Park, and by 8:40 p.m. on Tuesday I realized two microwaves were left behind in the hallway outside the mailroom. They are white, standard-size models, one with a chipped door. I retraced my steps through the corridor and lobby but couldn't find them. It feels stressful because one was my grandmother's gift and the other is my own go-to for reheating leftovers after late shifts. I hope someone turned them in or kept an eye on them until I could pick them up.
