Lost something on public transport?

How to track down an item left on a bus, train, tram, or taxi by contacting the right transport operator.

Items left on buses, trains, trams, and taxis around Athens are usually handed in to the operator's lost property team — the trick is contacting the right one quickly.

  1. Identify the operator. Note the route, line, or company and the rough time. Each operator runs its own lost property process.
  2. Submit a lost property report. Use the operator's online form or phone line as soon as possible; recovered items are logged against your description.
  3. For taxis and rideshare, contact the driver or company directly through your booking or app receipt.
  4. Keep your reference. Save any report number so you can chase it up.
  5. Post a listing. Add a listing for Athens in case a fellow passenger picked it up.

Holiday decorations missing from my porch.

I realized I lost my holiday decorations from my front porch while I was tidying up. It was 9:12 p.m. on a Friday, outside my apartment on Baxter Street near the UGA campus in Athens. The garlands were tangled, a few bulbs still warm, and the hook marks where they hung were plain to see—the space where color once lived now empty. I’m sad and a little puzzled, but I keep hoping they’ll surface, maybe folded on a neglected doormat or left on a neighbor’s porch with a note. If someone picked them up by mistake, I’d just like them back where they belong.

Lost Grey Celine card holder/pouch

Hello. I lost my Grey card holder/pouch has been found. It contains my Driver’s license, a few cards, and a Japanese green charm. The bank cards have already been cancelled, so the holder itself is what matters most. It has sentimental value, so I would really appreciate if anyone who found it could message me. Thank you.

Penguin Classics The Odyssey navy pocket edition

I lost my Penguin Classics The Odyssey navy pocket edition yesterday around 3pm near the National Library of Greece on Panepistimiou Street, Athens. It's a slim paperback, about 4 x 6 inches, navy blue cover with gold lettering; the spine is a bit worn and there's a small coffee stain on the back cover. Inside, I have a yellow sticky note with a doodle of a lighthouse on page 22 and a faded bookmark ribbon. The book was a gift from my grandfather, so it really means a lot to me to get it back.

Brown tortoiseshell glasses with blue case

I lost my Brown tortoiseshell Ray-Ban Wayfarer-style glasses yesterday around 3pm near the Acropolis Museum on Dionysiou Areopagitou. They're rectangular frames with a small scratch on the left lens and a tiny dent near the right hinge. Inside the right temple there's a faint engraving 'RB-207' and the case is a blue soft-shell with a yellow lining. They’re my daily prescription lenses and I really rely on them for work and everyday tasks; they were a gift from my grandmother, which adds to the sentimental value. If anyone found them, I’d be grateful to get them back.

Black sequined evening gown with rhinestone clasp

I lost my black sequined evening gown yesterday around 7:15pm near the Acropolis Museum on Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. It's a floor-length, size M dress with a delicate rhinestone clasp at the waist and a sheer cap sleeve. The fabric is a bit creased from the night, and there’s a tiny tear at the bottom hem from dancing. Inside, there's a blue satin label reading 'Luna Atelier'. This dress means a lot to me—it's a gift from my late grandmother and I really need it back to wear at an upcoming family gathering in Athens. If someone found it, I’d be incredibly grateful.

Blue Penguin Classics edition of The Odyssey

Hey, I’m worried—I misplaced my blue Penguin Classics edition of The Odyssey yesterday around 3pm. It’s a blue hardcover with gold lettering on the spine and a small coffee ring near the bottom edge. I think I left it outside the National Library of Greece on Panepistimiou Street, near Syntagma Square, after grabbing a coffee. It’s sentimental to me—my grandmother gave it to me, and I really need it back. There’s a tiny bookmark ribbon with a faded red tassel, plus a sticker on the back with my initials 'M.K.'
